The color we wear greatly affects how we look. Although we have certain colors that we wear
more often than others, sometimes we also have to consider how colors complement our complexion. That being said, here are guidelines that you
could use to help you choose the right colors for your skin tone.
1. For dark skin tone
Pastels to rich shades look best for gals with dark skin tone. For
instance, royal purple, plum and yellow. White can also look flattering on you,
depending on the shade of white. Steer clear from brown and black, though, as these
colors won't be as flattering as the other rich colors.

Girls with this kind of skin tone
should stay away from brown, orange and pastel shades because they can bring
out gray undertones, which could be unflattering on you. Instead, stick with
brighter and deeper hues like those that resemble precious gems like the color
of this lace dress in the picture below. The blue, red
and green families are also flattering for medium-light skin tones.

3. For those with fair skin.
Earth tones such as the shades of brown and green look gorgeous on you.
Like the medium-light skin tone, jewel tones can also flatter your complexion.
Stay away from shades that are too light or too bright, such as neon colors, as
can clash with your skin tone. Black and
white can make you look pale as well.

This
guideline is not a hand-set rule. If you want to wear any kind of colors, feel
free to do so. After all, these guides are only to give insight on how to make you look
more flattering. Anyway, regardless of what skin tone you have, you can always
make it an asset by dressing to compliment it.
